The State Government of Mizoram has made a decision on November 27, 2020, to suspend all schools in the state till the year-end to prevent further spread of Novel Coronavirus. As the virus is likely to affect more in the winter, Education Minister, Lalchandama Ralte has announced to close all the schools.
Earlier, the classes for 10-12 were operating on a regular basis from October 16, 2020, but were suspended after some of the students were found to be affected by the virus. The classes were suspended after only 8 days of performance and from there on only doubts sessions were started.

Students had to schedule a class with the teachers and visit the school after submitting their parents’ consent.
All the educational institutes are shut from the month of March due to the Lockdown imposed in the entire country and schools and colleges have shifted to online teaching to complete their curriculum for the current academic year.
The State Education Minister has further said the regular classes in school may resume from January 15, 2021, after discussing with the state executive department.
Till then classes are to be conducted via online till December 18 and then January 5 to 14, 2021. As instructed by the Mizoram Board of School Education, the courses have been reduced by 30% for the 2020-2021 academic year and the model questions will cover that portion for the board examination.
Bridge courses are also introduced this year to maintain the quality of education and both SCERT and MBSE will be involved in preparing the courses for the course curriculum. The State Council of Education and Research Training will prepare the bridge courses for standard 1-8 while Mizoram Board of School education will prepare the course for standard 9-11.

The state government has also extended its “Covid-19 No Tolerance Drive” from November 30 2020 - January 10, 2021, to prevent the spread of the virus. All the social gathering places are to remain closed.
On November 27, 2020, the government announced that for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebration, no public or social gatherings will be allowed other than the government's function. And only 5 people will be allowed in the assembly at the time of function in a public place.

Night curfew is still effective in the state from 8 pm - 4.30 am. However, all the shops can translate normally from December 1, 2020.
