As per the latest updates, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched an online education portal called Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services (TAPAS) in order to offer various courses to interested students.
Under the Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services (TAPAS) platform of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the ministry will offer Massive Open Online Course, MOOC in various domains of social defense and abuse prevention.
The Educational platform will offer five basic courses to all interested and eligible candidates on Drug (Substance) Abuse Prevention, Geriatric/Elderly Care, Care and Management of Dementia, Transgender Issues, and the comprehensive course on Social Defence Issues.
Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services (TAPAS) has been developed by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) to offer education in social defense issues to a large number of people.
Referring to the initiative, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar said, "the online education platform TAPAS will help the Ministry to reach out to a larger number of people who are working in the field of social defense".
He urged all interested candidates to apply for online courses available on the TAPAS platform. The courses designed by NISD will mainly focus on understanding the issues of social defense such as abuse prevention, elderly care, transgender welfare, and beggary prevention, etc.
“Everyone working in the field of social defense is encouraged to enroll for the course. It is an online course and one can utilize this facility to its full potential,” Virendra Kumar said.
As per the statements made by the government officials, the online education platform, TAPAS will offer a large number of online courses. The courses will be taught by subject experts with the help of study materials, online classes, etc.
Adding to the statement, Dr. Kumar said, “In our education system, where the offline mode of teaching is so deeply entrenched, this course will lead the path of change and open up new possibilities”.
“There is no dearth of respect and regard for our age-old guru-shishyaparampara, but there’s no reason why it can’t be transited to the online medium. Hence, let us embark on this new journey and increase our horizon when it comes to learning and gaining knowledge” he added.
