Maharashtra SSC HSC Board Exam 2021: Parents Body Demand Online Exams and Internal Assessment

November 27, 2020: Maharashtra Education Department (MED) is likely to conduct all exams and assessments virtually after hearing the plea of parents concerned about students’ health amid the COVID-19 spread.

India-wide Parents’ Association, a Maharashtra-based school parents’ body has urged the Maharashtra Education Department to evaluate student basis internal assessment for the academic year 2020-2021.

Additionally, parents are demanding continued online classes due to a significant rise in COVID-19 cases across the State. Earlier, Maharashtra Government reopened schools for Class 9 to 12 from November 23, 2020.

Anubha Sahai, President of Indiawide Parents’ Association raised the concern of putting students at high risk while allowing them to travel to schools for exams.

She further stated that even class 10th and 12th students will have to visit different various centres for their respective Board 2021 exams which is too risky owing to the rising cases of Covid-19.

The association further requested the Maharashtra Government and education department to conduct all the exams online. However, Maharashtra Education Department stated that they will respond to the parents’ demands after thoroughly looking into the details.

Generally, Maharashtra Board conducts MSBSHSE Class 12 exams in February and MSBSHSE Class 10 exams in March. But in 2020, Maharashtra Government postponed Maharashtra SSC HSC Board Exams 2021 to May 2021

This year, with effect to COVID-19, online learning has been adopted for students which will likely delay in finishing the syllabus, hence the decision to postpone Class 10th and 12th Board 2021 Exams.

After the reopening of schools in some parts across the state, teachers are requesting the education department to come up with an academic calendar for the upcoming days.

A principal of a suburban school said, “Uniform guidelines are needed to conduct the exams as in their absence, schools are making their own timetables, which is confusing for the students.”
