Due to the current COVID situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 Board Exams after a high-level meeting on Tuesday. Following PM Modi's announcement, a number of state boards have decided to postpone the Class 12 Board exams.
The Maharashtra HSC exams in 2021 are also on the verge of being cancelled. State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad stated that the state government has agreed to cancel the HSC exams 2021. ", said the minister "In order to ensure the safety of students, a proposal to cancel the HSC exams has been prepared and sent to the State's Disaster Management Authority. She added that an official notice would be issued within two days of the matter being considered."

The Bombay High Court is currently hearing the HSC exam case, so the proposal must be shared with the State Authority of Disaster Management. According to Gaikwad, the SDM will convene a meeting on the matter and make a decision within 1-2 days.
Varsha Gaikwad, speaking about the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 exams, said that during a meeting organised by the Central Educational Ministry, the State Government had demanded a non-examination route for class 12 Board exams. She also stated that the Maharashtra HSC Board Exam 2021 will be decided soon, with the safety of students in mind.
"There is no doubt that XII exams are an important milestone in any student's life," Gaikwad said in a message posted on her official Twitter account. "However, given the current circumstances, the health and mental well-being of our children should be prioritised," she added.
Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister, had previously asked the Prime Minister to decide on the Class 12 Board exams in 2021, requesting a uniform national policy. Maharashtra has already cancelled the SSC Board exams for 2021, and with the national boards cancelling the Class 12 exams, the HSC Board Exam 2021 is also likely to be cancelled.
