Maharashtra FYJC Second Merit List 2020: Maharashtra Education Department released the second merit list for admissions to First Year Junior College (FYJC) today, December 05, 2020.
About 2.42 Lakh seats remained vacant after the completion of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) the first-round admission. However, the admission procedure was stayed owing to the Supreme Court’s interim stay on the Maratha quota. As a fact, the second merit will exclude the 12% reservation criteria.
Similarly, Ashok Wadia, Principal at Jai Hindu College (JHC) Churchgate, Mumbai said that JHC already had a considerable number of admissions in the first round. Hence, there will not be a lot of dip in the cut-off.
Following the release of second FYJC merit list, students who are seeking admission to Class 11 will be able to check their selection status online by following the steps mentioned below.

Candidates who have participated in 2nd Round of Maharashtra FYJC Admission 2020 can check their meri-rank by following the below instructions:
Step 1: Visit the Maharashtra FYJC official website: mumbai.11thadmission.org.in.
Step 2: Click on “Allotment List” tab available under the Allotment List section.
Step 3: On the next screen, enter the necessary details such as College name, stream, stream code, zone, area, etc.
Step 4: Then, click on “Get Allotment List”.
Step 5: Maharashtra 2nd Round FYJC Admission 2020 Allotment List will be displayed on the screen.
Step 6: Check and verify the details and download it for further purposes.

Maharashtra FYJC 2nd Merit List 2020: Colleges Expecting Marginal Dip in Cutoffs
First merit list for JHC Mumbai Admission 2020 was closed at 92.6% for both arts and commerce streams while 89.4% for science streams. However, Principles of various coveted colleges are expecting marginal dips in their cut-offs.
Colleges in Mumbai Metropolitan Region have around 30 to 40 % of vacant seats after the first round of admissions. These colleges are expecting to fill their vacant seats in upcoming admission rounds.
A South Mumbai based college Principal stated that students are likely to prioritize taking admissions to colleges and begin the new academic session.
He further added that since the mode of learning will be online in 2020, many students are willing to compromise on their preferences of college. Due to delays in the admission procedure, students are really looking forward to the next academic session to begin.
Satram Verhani, Vice-Principal of Smt. Chandibai Himathmal Mansukhani College (CHM) Ulhasnagar said that nearly 70 % of seats were taken up after the completion of the first round of admission for minority and general category.
VP Verhani further added, “We hope that the remaining seats will be filled in the days to come so that online lectures for FYJC can begin soon.”

Earlier, on September 09, the Maharashtra Education Department had halted the FYJC admission procedure until Supreme Court’s further order.
The decision to halt was taken in line with the apex court’s interim stay on Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) quota in jobs and education.
As the State Government has revealed that admissions will take place without quota in every course. However, the government has also clarified that students admitted under the quota during the first round will remain intact.
