It has been notified that the Maharashtra First Year Junior College Common Entrance Test, (FYJC CET 2021) will not be conducted this year. According to recent reports, the Bombay High Court has rejected the government's request to hold the FYJC CET 2021 for the 11th Admissions, this year.
Therefore, the admissions to the Maharashtra FYJC or class 11 would be done without any entrance exam. With some or the other issue being brought to light, the matter regarding the Maharashtra FYJC CET 2021 has been in the Bombay HC for quite a long time now.
As the Maharashtra SSC exams were canceled, the state government and the school education department had proposed to conduct a CET, this year for class 11th Admissions. In order to have uniformity in the entire FYJC Admission process, the FYJC CET exam was made an alternative way of admission. .
Earlier, many stakeholders had objected to the Maharashtra FYJC CET 2021 on various grounds. As the paper pattern was discriminatory and wasn't in sync with the other board's syllabus, many students from other boards also raised their objections. Moreover, the education department had made the FYJC CET compulsory for the class 11th Admissions based on the Maharashtra Board or SSC Syllabus. For this reason, many students and other stakeholders had expressed their concerns with FYJC CET 2021.
Further, some concerned parties were also of the view that if Maharashtra FYJC CET 2021 is conducted, it might lead to a delay in the admission process as the releasing of results might take a while. As a result of which, the precious time could have been utilised in studies or starting the new academic year on time. Many rounds of hearings took place in Bombay High Court regarding the matter.
The Bombay High Court had also asked the government in one of the hearings if a separate question paper can be prepared for students of Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, CISCE. However, no final resolution came out on the matter and finally, the Bombay HC has officially quashed the government's thoughts of conducting the FYJC CET 2021 for class 11th Admission. Consequently, the FYJC Admissions would take place without any entrance test.
