Maharashtra Colleges: Academic Year to Begin from November 1, 2021 in Online Mode Only, Says Education Minister Uday Samant

As per the latest updates, Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant has officially announced that Maharashtra Colleges will begin the academic year 2021-22 from November 01, 2021. However, no final decision is made on the resumption of offline classes in the universities.

The Education Minister Uday Samant stated that the final decision on physical classes will be made after reviewing the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state.

Referring to the commencement of the academic year, the Education Minister stated that the academic year will now start from November 01, 2021. As for physical classes, taking the risk to call students on campus ground is a big challenge.

As of now, only 17-18 percent of beneficiaries have received their second dose of vaccination, while others are still waiting to receive their first vaccination dose. In this situation, the conduction of physical classes is considered to be a risk, he further added.

“If all students had received both doses, we could have thought of starting physical classes”. A meeting will be held to discuss the COVID-19 situation with district collectors, heads of disaster management committees, and the final decision will be made, he further added.

Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant further stated that the state government will fire an FIR against those who will be found discriminating against students who have passed their exam during COVID-19 during the recruitment process.

"It is not their (students') mistake that they did not have practicals (due to the pandemic). If any industry refuses employment to such students, the FIRs will be filed" he added.

While talking about the upcoming Chipi Airport in Sindhudurg, Samant added that the facility will be launched by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on November 09, 2021.
