Maharashtra Board Cancels Classes 9, 11 Exams amid Rising COVID Cases; Read Details Here

Maharashtra Board has cancelled exams scheduled for Classes 9 and 11 in all state board affiliated schools. The announcement was made by Maharashtra State Education Department on April 7, 2021.

As per the notification, Maharashtra Board will promote all the Classes 9 and 11 students for the 2021-22 academic year, even without taking final exams. The update has been received from the Maharashtra State Education Minister following several rounds of rumours and speculative dates, circulated among people.

A video message by Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad says, “Considering the current COVID-19 situation in the state, we have decided to promote all students of standard IX and XI to the next class. We will soon announce some programmes to ensure that the learning continues as these years are the basis for the standard X and XII board exams.”

This decision is preceded by an earlier announcement to promote students of Classes 1-8 without conducting final exams. However, the biggest concern is Maharashtra SSC and HSC exams. As per reports, the revised Maharashtra Board Class 10 and 12 datesheet 2021 has been released for exams to be held offline. Accordingly, HSC exams will be conducted from April 23, 2021, to May 29, 2021, while SSC exams from April 29-May 20, 2021.

Hence students are looking forward to the state government’s take on this. Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, students demand exams be postponed or held online. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Practical exams for Class 10 and 12 (Humanities) have been cancelled. Class 12 science students need to appear on limited experiments.

Nevertheless, stakeholders have reached out to concerned authorities to continue with Class 10 and 12 exams, unhindered as CBSE and ICSE will be conducting exams as per schedule.
