The government of Madhya Pradesh has officially introduced the National Education Policy 2020 and the state has become the second state in the country to implement NEP 2020 after Karnataka.
The implementation of the NEP 2020 event was attended by the MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Governor Mangubhai C Patel and Higher Education Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. During the event, the MP education minister, Yadav said that the NEP will break all the shackles and will assist students to explore beyond their boundaries.
Previously, the students had to simply study subjects according to the course, but now they will have the option to choose their subjects based on their interests. Moreover, the new NEP 2020 policy aims on the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and skill-based subjects, he said.

Further, he notified that the state government is also planning to introduce agricultural science as a subject in Vikram University and Rani Durgavati University, in order to open up new avenues for the students. In addition, the MP Government aims to implement NEP 2020 in all the regions across the state within a span of four years, which covers around 16 government universities and nearly 40 private universities, he added.

When asked about campus placements in Madhya Pradesh, the education minister, Yadav said that the state government has taken initiatives to increase placements in the state. He said that a placement officer has been deployed for each district in the state. Moreover, around 86,000 students were placed in reputed companies during the college placements and this year, the government has decided to increase the number of students to two lakhs, he stated.
The National Education Policy 2020 was launched by the Union government in July 2020 and on the occasion of its first anniversary, Prime Minister Modi had introduced SAFAL (Structured Assessment For Analysing Learning), a competency-based assessment for grades 3, 5, and 8, set up by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
