Kerala Schools Reopening: The education department of Kerala had given green light to reopen the Kerala schools for class 10 and 12 students and nearly 2,400 school campuses recorded 95% attendance of the students.

Government and government aided Kerala schools commenced conducting classes for Students of 10 and 12 from January 1, 2021. Approximately 2,400 schools out of 3,000 campuses over the state went on board for the first time in this academic year.

The pandemic Coronavirus has compelled all the educational institutions to remain closed since March 2020 and now the schools are operating partially with SOPs and guidelines issued by the government.

The prime rule to maintain social distance is ensured in all the Kerala schools and classes are conducted in small batches with one branch for each student. Viewing the increasing cases in the state, the student strength was comparatively high.

North districts of the state consist of more than 3,000 school campuses for class 10 and 12. Commuting has been an issue since the schools have not started their bus facility and public and private transport services are not restored to its original state.

The SSLC and PUC Examinations are scheduled from March 17-30, 2021 with Covid-19 protocols. Kerala Colleges have also started their classes with a limited number of students.

General education minister C Raveendranath commented that 1.75 lakh more students have joined the government aided Kerala schools in this academic year and there has been an increment of 6.8 lakhs students in the private institutions. 

A software dedicated for educational records named Sampoorna has received 8,170 registrations from students of class 1 till December 28, 2020. And 43,789 students from class 5 and 35606 students from class 8 have been enrolled in this program.

The education sector is trying to uplift itself in these tough times and will be gradually increasing its student strength.

Several CBSE schools have observed dropouts because of financial issues faced in the pandemic situation. Since CBSE/ICSE schools have not yet opened the actual number of dropouts cannot be determined. Moreover, to enroll in government and government aided schools one does not need a transfer certificate from either board.
