Kerala B.Tech Admission 2021: Engineering Admission Based on Plus Two Marks is Approved By Supreme Court, State Govt to HC

The Kerala Government has conveyed its decision of considering only plus-two marks for Kerala B.Tech Admission 2021, to the Kerala High Court.

Ashok M Cherian, the additional Advocate General who appeared on the behalf of the state government in the HC stated that this year, the Supreme Court has approved an evaluation scheme to assess the plus-two marks of CBSE and ICSE boards.

During the hearing on the petition in the HC, that sought Kerala BTech Admission 2021 and admission to other professional engineering courses to be based on entrance exam this year and not on the basis of the plus-two marks, Cherian said that there's nothing wrong to consider plus-two marks for admissions to engineering courses.

The state government also asserted that the students who were not satisfied with the assessment of marks on the basis of the SC-approved scheme had a chance to appear for the CBSE & ICSE improvement exam. However, in reply to this, advocates of some of these students said that in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the Supreme Court had approved the scheme for the announcement of plus-two results.

Since the CBSE and ICSE plus-two exams were cancelled owing to the pandemic covid-19. The CBSE school managements' association and students Salvia Hussain, Sibi Wilson, and Priyanka Thomas had filed the petitions regarding this scenario.

According to the prospectus, the admission is conducted on the basis  of plus-two marks and entrance exam scores. However, Justice P B Suresh Kumar will consider the case again on Thursday.
