Karnataka Schools: Regular Classes to Resume for Class 6 and Above From January 1; Check Details Here


The Karnataka government has decided to reopen the schools in the state for students of all grades above 6. Students of classes 6 to 9 will be required to bring written consent from their parents, and students of class 10 to 12 will have to attend regular classes. 

Suresh Kumar, Education Minister of Karnataka said that the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by CM B S Yediyurappa in presence of the Health Minister K Sudhakar on December 19, 2020.

He said that this meeting was held after the technical advisory committee of the Karnataka Health Department submitted its report. 

The technical advisory committee has also laid out the necessary guidelines and suggestions for conducting classes in Karnataka. As per the report, classes for grade 10 and 12 students could be started from January 1. 

Suresh Kumar also said, “Students having symptoms of Covid-19 need not attend the classes. Attending classes under Widyagama (Class 6th to 9th) is not compulsory. Only half day school will be allowed with a limit of maximum 20 students in every class. The provision for mid-day meal will not be continued but food kits will be supplied to the homes of students,"
