Karnataka colleges have reopened for UG, PG, Engineering and Diploma courses from January 15, 2021, onwards after the Sankranti celebrations, as per the decision approved by the Karnataka State Government.
Karnataka Colleges will resume after a long gap of 9 months and on the basis of the suggestions, the new date to commence the regular classes for the students of degree, post-graduation, diploma, and engineering has been announced.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who holds the higher education portfolio, directed the Vice-Chancellors of government, and senior officials of several departments and the private universities to suggest a new date to resume the regular classes for the 1st and 2nd year Karnataka colleges students.
As a fact, the January 15 date was finalised. The state government took this decision after the success of offline classes for final year students that commenced in early December 2020.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Govt has asked AICTE to extend the last date for admission to professional courses. If AICTE agrees, then Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will be able to conduct another round of counselling for candidates who were unable to participate in previous rounds.
Speaking on reopening educational institutions, Deputy CM of Karnataka said, "The final year offline classes are already underway successfully. The classes of first, second and third-year students will start from January 15."
Meanwhile, the offline or regular classes for class 10, second pre-university, final year and PG students have already begun and are successfully functioning. Therefore, the Karnataka government decided to reopen the remaining classes in Karnataka colleges, by counting this success into account.
Narayan said that the confusion regarding the bus passes will also be clarified soon by discussing it with another Deputy CM Laxman Savadi, who holds the transport folio.
Earlier, this week, the Education Minister of Karnataka, S Suresh Kumar has already announced the Karnataka SSLC, PUC Exam Dates 2021, i.e the Karnataka SSLC 2021 exams will be conducted in the first week of June 2021 while the PUC 2021 exams will be conducted in May 2021.
