Karnataka Education Minister Releases Schedule for SSLC Board Exam, II PU Results to be Released in July


SSLC exams to be held on July 19 & July 22. Each subject will have a maximum of 40 marks and the question paper will contain only MCQs.

Suresh Kumar, the Education Minister of Karnataka has released the schedule for Karnataka SSLC exams 2021 today on June 28, 2021. The exams will be held for two days between 10.30 am to 1.30 pm. The first paper will be held on July 19 consisting of subjects Science, Maths and Social Science while the second paper on languages will be conducted on July 22. 

The minister said,"All teachers will be vaccinated within a week to have them prepared for exams." Section 144 will be imposed around 200 meters of the exam centres to ensure the social distancing due to the current COVID pandemic situation.

Moreover, the symptomatic children who want to appear for SSLC exam will be isolated in a separate room at the centre."Those students who have been tested Covid positive and want to appear in the exam can write at a nearby centre under the isolation arrangements made for them, he added. 

"This year, the SSLC exam will contain multiple choice questions only and the answer sheets will have optical mark readers(OMR). Only one question paper containing all three core subjects will be provided. The paper will totally contain 120 marks in which each subject will be for a maximum of 40 marks,"the minister added.

The first paper will be held on July 19 and it will have Maths, Social Science and Science divided into three parts. The exam will be held for three hours from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and a three day gap would be provided between each examination.

"Similarly the second exam on languages will contain a total of 120 marks, in which three subjects of I,II and III languages will be included. Each of them will be for a maximum of 40 marks and the exam pattern will be the same for all students, the minister explained. 

The minister also added that there won't be supplementary exams for this academic year."Grades will be awarded as A,B and C based on their marks. We will shortly release a model question paper on our website." 

Informing about the second PU exam results, the minister said,"The government has decided to cancel the II PUC exam and the students will be promoted with grades. When the COVID situation comes under control, exams for students seeking grade improvement will be conducted."

Last week, the government released the standard operating procedure (SOP). It included sanitisation of the exam halls, toilets and furniture daily before and after the examination. The SOP mandated that there be only 12 children in the examination hall and only one student at each desk to maintain social distance among the students. The gathering of students at any time has also been prohibited in the SOP.

Vaccination of the students, teachers and officials involved in smooth conduction of the exams with cooperation of district administration is mandatory, the education minister added, stating that they should make sure to get a dose of the vaccine well before the exams.

Over 8.75 lakh students will be appearing in the SSLC exams this year. Over 6000 exam centres have been made across the state and the number of exam centres has been doubled from last year to ensure social distancing among the students.
