Karnataka Education Minister Launches State’s First NEP 2020 Conclave; Details Here


Karnataka’s Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan has launched the state's first National Education Policy (NEP) 2021 conclave, themed ‘Strategising the Future of Higher Education.

On November 13, Karnataka's higher education council collaborated with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), the UK headquartered skill development and education company and hosted the first National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 conclave in the state. 

The event witnessed the participation of more than 200 people including educationists, representatives of leading universities, government authorities, industry experts, and corporates. 

According to the official statement from the Karnataka higher education council, around 25 panellists curated 5 unique panel discussions related to the international opportunities for the NEP and introduced schemes for the implementation of the NEP in the state effectively. 

Further, the NEP will be implemented successfully by recognizing skill gaps, adopting the best of global practices, catering to the requirements of industry and skill centric awareness and generating international and national employment opportunities.

While addressing the conclave, the education minister Narayan said that the NEP is a positive approach, which addresses all the challenges faced by the education sector. 

As a result, Karnataka will become the top-notch education place in the upcoming years for India and the world with the NEP's successful implementation. 

He said that the Karnataka government is always open to opportunities to advance and revamp the education system for the betterment of the students around the state. Also, it will provide an educational environment of informed education, encouragement and enlightenment to the students.

Speaking at the conclave, Tom M Joseph, Executive Director, Strategy and Development, ISDC, UK, said that NEP 2020 will empower the education system and skill infrastructure base in the country that will eventually expand the reach of ISDC to the international education platforms. 

Further, he said the ISDC is delighted to bring the educational experts and like-minded personalities with the help of Karnataka NEP Conclave 2021. 

This event has helped to discuss the steps required to fasten the NEP to accomplish goals, propel the role of digital and recognize the collaboration towards the process of making Indian higher education to the global level, he said. 

Pradeep P IAS, Commissioner, Dept. of Collegiate Education & Technical Education, Government of Karnataka; Gopalkrishna Joshi, Executive Director, Karnataka State Higher Education Council; Teresa Jacobs, Executive Director – Learning, International Skill Development Corporation were some of the renowned dignitaries present at the event. 

Professor Lingaraja Gandhi, Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru City University, said that the NEP-2020 that is currently being implemented in the universities and colleges across Karnataka is a holistic, 'multidisciplinary' system that will enable and transform the educational landscape according to the 21st century.
