Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. C.N Ashwath Narayan on Friday said that diploma courses on engineering will be reconstructed as the courses have become obsolete and irrelevant to present day industries.
On interaction with the bachelor degree students on the first day of reopening colleges after 8 months of lockdown, Deputy CM declared that the diploma courses will be recast to suit the job market.
CM Narayan who holds the higher education portfolio said that the course curriculum does not provide the students employment.

Around 40,000 students passed out in the final year of the diploma program in engineering, out of which 20% did not receive any job offer in the academic year 2019-2020.
The Deputy CM will initiate the discussion with stakeholders including the industries on the needs of the job market. After the feedback, the courses will be changed accordingly.
