JNU conducted the 250th Executive Council meeting on November 25, where it decided to conduct "Swami Vivekananda Memorial Lecture" every year on January 12 i.e. the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
The youth festival at Jawaharlal Nehru University [JNU] will comprise technical festivals, cultural events, sports, exhibitions, academic events including lecture series, seminars, conferences, discussions, and debates, and these programmes will be organized for the students and the winners will be facilitated with prizes.

The JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagdesh Kumar stated that this initiative will keep alive the thoughts, messages, and visions of this great son of India and will direct the teachings of Swami Ji to the JNU community, and especially to the students.

The JNU Executive Council has also passed a resolution to build a committee to develop the academic research programmes on Swami Vivekananda.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated a life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda installed in JNU, via video conferencing.
