The Jharkhand Education Department has postponed the dates announced by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) for the class 10 and 12 board examination. The Jharkhand Board Examinations were scheduled to be conducted from March 9 to 26, 2021.
Senior officials from the Jharkhand Education Department stated that after taking various factors into consideration, the decision to postpone the Jharkhand Board Examination 2021 dates is finalized. A direction will also be provided to JAC in this regard soon.
The syllabus for classes 10 and 12 were already reduced by 40%. The Jharkhand Education Department will be considering if the two months time provided to students to complete the prescribed syllabus for the academic year is sufficient.
Jata Shankar Choudhary, the director of the secondary education stated, “We will also take into consideration the examination schedules announced by various boards in neighbouring states in this regard.”

Previously the JAC has decided to conduct the Jharkhand Board Examination for classes 10 and 12 from March 9, 2021, which is delayed by 25 days when compared to the previous years.
Arvind Singh, the chairperson of JAC stated that the lockdown imposed to restrict the spread of COVID 19 has affected studies of students and it is one of the factors for the postponement of the board examinations. But the Council doesn’t want to further delay the commencement of board examination because it will affect the result announcement.
Considering this, other JAC officials stated that compared to the normal conditions, conducting examination, evaluation and announcement of results will take more time under COVID 19 conditions.
The official also stated that the Jharkhand government has not yet provided any direction regarding the postponement of the Board Examination dates.
Ashutosh Singh, the principal of a government school stated that the postponement of the Board exam dates will be helpful for the students. Providing a reasonable period of classroom education will increase the confidence of the students.
Schools were reopened and classroom education had begun for the students of classes 10 and 12 since the end of December 2020. Several teachers also consider the postponement of the exam dates by a month.
