The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have decided to conduct a Research and Development Fair in November 2021, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced today, on September 3.
The minister took to Twitter to officially announce the event. According to the tweet, he joined a discussion on Research and Development fair conducted by all the IITs that will be held in November 2021, to celebrate #AmrutMahotsav, 'Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', 75 years of India’s independence.

He added that this will create and develop an enabling environment for cutting-edge research as envisaged in the new National Education Policy 2020.
He also expressed his happiness knowing that all the 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) will come together to focus on developing innovations for the Indian and global markets to facilitate ease-of-living. Further, he added that IT is the global brand at present and with the help of this mela, several new innovations and projects will be initiated.
The Union Minister, Pradhan said that the research and development (R&D) fair conducted by IITs will also serve as a platform for greater linkages between the industry and academia, which will pave the way for India to become a global superpower in science and futuristic technologies.
In addition, he stated that the mela will give a message to get connected with the Indian industries and all the alumni, present students, and faculties of Indian Industry will come together for the R&D mela.
Moreover, the mela will witness some of the Centrally Funded Technical Institutes or State's technical institutions, which includes all the technocrats aka technology students will create a new ecosystem, which will be the greatest achievement of the 75 years of India’s journey, he concluded.
