Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is now preparing to set up a new School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to offer various courses for academic session 2022.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is now preparing to set up a new School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to offer various courses for academic session 2022. The school’s first batch will start for all registered candidates from September 2022. 

Under the collaboration with US-based Mehta Family Foundation (MFF), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee's School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will offer bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs to all eligible candidates.

School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be established at the IIT Roorkee campus to offer skilled manpower in AI and data science domain. The school aims to offer various training focuses and certificate programs.

“The objective of this School is to develop new and skilled manpower in the areas of data science and artificial intelligence along with an aim to empower existing manpower by offering focused training and certifications in these fields," the IIT said.

As per the official statement, the IIT Roorkee faculty members along with renowned experts in the field of AI will create and design the course curriculum of various programs. Additionally, the experts will design the faculty recruitment, monitoring, and new research ideas of the school.

In addition to the course curriculum of the school, the industry experts along with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee Faculty members will offer student scholarships and faculty exchange programs to students.

Referring to the initiative, Rahul Mehta, chief executive officer, Mehta Family Foundation, said, "Academic collaborations like between international faculty and institutes can produce individuals poised to address such ongoing global challenges as climate change, resource sustainability, and security".

The schools will also offer entrepreneurship and startups opportunities and skills to students in the data science and artificial intelligence field. The various programs offered by the school will create resource centers for information and knowledge sharing.
