Despite the lockdown and recess in the economy, IIT commenced its placement virtually on December 1st and reported of students bagging great opportunities in large numbers.
IIT Madras has claimed, International IT Giant Cohesity has proposed an annual package of 200,000 USD equivalent to INR 1.5 Crores to one of its students, for its California branch.
IIT Roorkee Placement 2020: Day-1 Trends
On the first day of Online placement drive, IIT Roorkee achieves 272 job offers by Microsoft, Goldman, Sachs, Intel Technology and e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart. A total of 25 renowned companies have offered pre-placement offers to the students.
The highest package in the country has been a huge difference from last year. Students managed to grab INR 80 Lakh packages this year and three students even secured international opportunities.
All in all companies have made 153 pre-placement offers compared to last year where 139 offers were made. IIT Madras experienced the virtual placement drive with 182 PPOs this year.

IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur have also begun its placement process.
IIT Madras Placement 2020: Trends of Day-1
IIT Madras seasoned 123 job offers by 22 recruiters on the first day of virtual placement this year. International IT Giant Cohesity has proposed an annual package of 200,000 USD equivalent to INR 1.5 Crores for its branch in California.
Prominent companies like Microsoft, Texas Instrument, Bajaj Auto, ISRO, Alphonso, Qualcomn, IT Giant Microsoft proposed their interest in hiring qualified students in the first session.

For the second shift, around 1,443 students were offered jobs from 256 recruiters. One of the students also remarked that virtual placement was well organized and scheduled with precision. This is the first time IIT is having virtual placement drive.
IIT Bombay Placement: Day-1 Trends
IIT Bombay conducted its first session of virtual placement with 18 companies and students were offered 153 pre-placement job offers. Participating companies included Microsoft, Google, Texas Instrument, Qualcomn, Boston Consulting group, Apple, Bain and company.

The highest package was offered by Qualcomn with INR 46.41 Lakh and subsequently World Quant offered INR 39.70 Lakh, Morgan and Stanely offered INR 37.25 Lakh and Uber with INR 35.38Lakh.
