New Delhi:  IIT Palakkad has begun the application process for the PhD and MS (Research) programme for the academic session 2022-23 beginning in December 2022. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal, @https://iitpkd.ac.in/.

IIT Palakkad offers Ph.D. in three categories, namely, Full-Time Regular, Project Staff and Research Scholar under External Registration Scheme. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD or MS (Research) programme can submit their applications till October 30, 2022. 

Admissions to the PhD and MS Research programmes will be based on the basis of written exam followed by their performance in interview.

IIT Palakkad PhD & MS (Research) Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to the PhD and MS (Research) programmes are required to fulfill the requisite eligibility criteria. 

Eligibility Criteria For MS: 

• Candidates with a four year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Sciences or a Master’s degree in sciences with a valid GATE score in relevant discipline.
• Candidates having a good academic record, having memberships in professional bodies, approved by the MoE/UGC/AICTE, are also eligible for admission to the MS programme of their parent discipline provided they have a valid GATE score and have passed both part A and part B of the membership examinations.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD:

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from CFTI (in a relevant stream with a minimum CGPA of 8/10 or above) OR M. Tech in a relevant stream OR Master’s degree by Research in Engineering. & Technology OR M.Sc in the relevant discipline for admission to the PhD programme. 

IIT Palakkad PhD & MS (Research) Admission 2022: Selection Process

Selection Process for MS:

• Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE score. 
• The shortlisted candidates will have to take the written test organized by the institute and those who qualify will be called for an Interview.
• Thus, the final selection depends upon the GATE score, written test score and performance in the Interview round.

Selection Process for PhD: 

• The institute conducts the written test to shortlist the students.
• However, those who have a valid score in GATE/NBHM/CSIR NET/UGC NET are exempted from the written test and are shortlisted based on their score in the mentioned exams.
• The shortlisted candidates will have to further appear for the Interview. 
• Hence, candidates are selected based on their written test/entrance exam score followed by an interview.

Key Points: 

• All the eligible candidates possessing the minimum educational qualifications (as given in section 6.3) and satisfying additional and stiffer criteria set from time to time, will be called for an interview and/or test by the Selection Committee.
• These shortlisted applicants are further required to upload a statement of purpose (SOP) in support of their application in pdf format in the research admission portal.
• The SOP should list research areas in the order of preference and should not exceed 500 words.
• It submitted in a pdf format.

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of IIT Palakkad @https://iitpkd.ac.in/. 

Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee and submit the Application form. 

Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.
