As per recent updates, the India Institute of Technology, Madras has given admission to 8,154 students in total into Batch 1 of its introductory B.Sc (Programming and Data Science).
Among the new students admitted by IIT Madras, 1,593 students previously belonged to arts, science, and commerce backgrounds, while 3,450 of them were former engineering students.
Out of these 8,154 students, 1,922 of them were female. The students hail from various parts of the country.

Upon completion of the first round of the admission process, the institute has opened the application window for Round 2 of the qualifier admission process. Candidates can apply for the same by February 6, 2021.
This year, 30,276 candidates from across the country had applied for admission to IIT Madras through round 1 of admissions. These candidates were provided with access to online classes for the first month of the course.
The director of IIT Madras, Bhaskar Ramamurthi stated, “IIT Madras is doing everything possible to give a great learning experience to the students. The courses are delivered through a state-of-the-art online portal. Students are given the opportunity to participate in LIVE sessions to clarify their doubts. The exams are conducted in-person so that the academic rigor of the program is maintained.”

IIT Madras has declared that Round 2 of the admission process is now underway. Candidates wishing to apply are required to pay a registration fee of INR 3,000.
By paying the registration fee, candidates will be provided with the first month of online course content as part of the training process and examination of the qualifier round. After the application window closes, the 2nd Qualifier process will begin in the second week of March.
When asked about the course content of the first month, Professor Andrew Thangaraj expressed, “Students can choose their own pace while registering for courses and, upon completion, receive a Certificate, Diploma or a Degree at various exit points from IIT Madras.”
