IIT Kharagpur students received more than 1000 job offers till the Day-8 of the first phase of final placement 2020. The placement drive began on December 1, 2020, for the current year amid the pandemic.
IIT Kharagpur has also set a record by conducting the first-ever virtual placement in the history of placement sessions in the institute. Students accepted at least 30 international job offers among 1000 job offers received so far.

Students at IIT Kharagpur accepted 30 international offers from countries like Taiwan and Japan in organisations namely Accenture, Sony, Rakuten, Valuance and TSMC.
IIT Kharagpur stated in an official release that offers were extended in Banking, Finance, Consulting, Software, Hardware, Analytics, Core Engineering, Healthcare and Education.

About 200 companies participated in the first phase of the final placement drive. Among the top recruiters were 25%-27% core companies, 10% consulting and 65% were software companies. The average package so far has been around INR 19 LPA.
Professor A Rajakumar, Chairman, Career Development Centre, IIT Kharagpur said, “On the closing of day-1, we had received 400 plus offers which became 900 on Day 5 and crossed 1000 by Day 8; though pandemic restricted some of the companies to offer more hiring numbers/profiles. Despite that KGP achieved significant performance and reassured its legacy.”
