IIT Kharagpur is now inviting students from colleges and universities, entrepreneurs and rural youth, to participate in the online Agri-Food Techathon (AFT 2021), which is scheduled to be conducted from January till March 2021.
IIT Kharagpur is set to conduct the Agri-Food Techathon (AFT 2021) as a national-level technical festival to showcase participant’s creative, and problem-solving skills in the field of the Agri-Food sector.
The event is being organized by Agri-Business Incubation Centre (ABIC) at IIT Kharagpur, along with its Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, Centre for Rural Development and Innovative Sustainable Technologies, and Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship.
Interested participants who wish to register for IIT Kharagpur Techathon 2021, can do so by submitting the online application form on or before January 07, 2021.

IIT Kharagpur has invited founders of successful Agri-tech startups to deliver lectures and expert talks on different innovations and entrepreneurial opportunities in the Agriculture and Food Technology sector.
As per the official notice issued by IIT Kharagpur, “The AFT-2021 will include a competitive B-plan submission for the participants.” Panelists will include notable business and technology experts from the same Agri-Food sector.
During the first round of B-plan submission, selected teams will be assigned mentors for guidance in product and business development.
Further, selected teams will make it through the final presentation, and will be offered a formal alliance with the ABIC along with assistance in:
- Technology and Business Development Mentorship
- Laboratory / Workshop / Pilot Plant access
- R&D support
- Funding Opportunities.
Agri-Business Incubation Centre (ABIC) is funded by NABARD and has been launched by the Agricultural and Food Engineering (AgFE) Department of IIT Kharagpur for promoting innovative methods and advancement in the agriculture business.
Since its inception in 1932, ABIC provides a host of support in important agriculture domains. It offers training and mentorships in agricultural departments like mechanization, food processing and packaging, agricultural biotechnology, among others.
ABIC also provides sufficient support for the technical and managerial advancements in agricultural and rural development.
