IIT Kanpur to Begin BT-MT Dual Degree in Cyber Security, MTech, MS by Research from August 2021; Check Details Here


IIT Kanpur Admission 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has decided to start MTech, MS by Research and BT-MT Dual Degree Program in Cyber Security from August 2021.

As notified by Professor Sandeep Shukla, a Computer Science & Engineering Department, IIT Kanpur, the Senate and board of governors have given a nod to introduce the facility to choose three degrees in Cyber Security that is scheduled to commence from August 2021. 

These degrees in Cybersecurity will address the strong deficit of the workforce in cybersecurity across the country. Following which, he also stated in detail about admissions in IIT-K and intake of students for the aforesaid courses.

The intake of the students for the MTech in Cyber Security will be 15 and these students will be admitted through GATE /industry sponsorship. 

While 10 students will be admitted from Defence and other strategic government bodies to direct the need of cybersecurity and cyber defence workforces in the government, he said.

Further, the professor said that IIT-K will intake 10 students through GATE/industry sponsorship for the MS by Research in Cyber Security Program and 5 students will be admitted via Defence and other government agencies. 

Only the BTech (CSE) students from IIT-K are eligible to apply for the newly introduced BT-MT dual program. The BTech-MTech dual degree is apt for the students who after completing additional credits want to earn a master's degree along with their BTech in CSE. 

As per the extant laws, these numbers will include the percentage of the reserved seats from reserved categories.
