IIT Kanpur announced the new Bright Minds Scholarship for the meritorious students. The scholarship is awarded to 10 students among the top 100 rank holders in JEE Advanced Exam. This kind of academic Scholarship program is the first of its kind from IIT Kanpur.
The scholarship is sponsored by Mr. Lokvir Kapoor, alumni of IIT Kanpur. It was mainly intended to motivate and appreciate young minds. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses during their stay on the campus. It will be awarded to selected 10 students who have a family income less than INR 20 LPA.
The scholarships will be given from the academic year 2021-22 onwards. Among the top 100 students of JEE Advanced, 10 students will be selected for this esteemed scholarship. The scholarship is merit cum means based to some extent. This full-ride scholarship is really attracting bright minds.
IIT Kanpur’s Director Abhay Karandikar announced the new scholarship on Twitter. According to him, the Bright Minds Scholarships program was established with the support of alumnus Mr. Lokvir Kapoor.
The new scholarship is for the 10 toppers within the JEE Advanced. He also added that the new merit scholarship amount covers all expenses, including tuition and living, during their stay on the campus.
Earlier this month, IIT Kanpur and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) collaborated for study on real-time apportionment of pollutants.
The study will be for a duration of 23 months and it will be the first-of-its-kind effort to understand the source of pollution on a real-time basis.
