IIT Jodhpur Launches New MTech Programme in Augmented & Virtual Reality; Apply till June 17

New Delhi: The Technology Innovation Hub (TIH), IIT Jodhpur in collaboration with iHub Drishti Foundation has begun the application process for M.Tech programme in AR and VR for the academic session 2022-23. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal, @iitj.ac.in. 

The School of Artificial Intelligence, IIT Jodhpur is offering the M.Tech programme with campus immersions for working professionals in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Candidates seeking admission to the programme can submit their applications till June 17, 2022. 

The M.Tech course will begin from the semester commencing 2022-23. It has been specifically designed for working professionals in order to meet the increasing demand for engineers with diverse backgrounds in the fields of augmented and virtual reality, and to support relevant research and development.

The classes will be conducted in the evening (e.g. from 5 PM to 8 PM) or on the weekends at a convenient time. A student can register for up to 12 credits in a semester. There will be two to three lectures every day, each of duration 50 to 80 minutes. 

IIT Jodhpur M.Tech Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admissions into the M.Tech course will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria which are mentioned below. 

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks for GEN/OBC (55% for SC/ST/PD) category in aggregate or as specified by the university/institute or a minimum CGPA of 6.0 for GEN/OBC (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) category on the scale of 10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 10 (for example 4.8 for GEN/OBC category (4.4 for SC/ST/PD) on a scale of 8) or a first-class as specified by the university/institute. 

IIT Jodhpur M.Tech Admission 2022: Selection Process

• Candidate's selection will be based on programming and/or written test and/or interview and/or any other criteria deemed suitable by the admission committee. 
• Prior research exposure and/or industry experience in areas related to AR & VR will be considered a plus. 
• The school reserves the right to set any cut off criteria for shortlisting the candidates. Mere fulfillment of the eligibility criteria does not guarantee that the candidate will be shortlisted, as the shortlisting criteria are often stricter than the eligibility criteria. 

IIT Jodhpur M.Tech Admission 2022: How to Apply?

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of IIT Jodhpur @iitj.ac.in. 

Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee of INR 300 and submit the Application form. 

Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.

Neeraj Jain, Head of Department, School of AI and Data Science, IIT Jodhpur said that the AR and VR is the future technology that is going to take an important and increasingly major role in a variety of areas such as Healthcare, Diagnostics, Robotics, Gaming, Consumer Experience and anywhere else where we require an immersive experience. This is where the entire technology is moving. 

The M.Tech course will lead to increasing job opportunities for those who are experts in AR, VR. It will provide opportunities to working professionals to be future-ready for the emerging job market, Jain said. 

Professor Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, said that this is the first MTech course in AR and VR, offered by an IIT in this space. The uniqueness of the programme is that this has been devised and designed through collaboration of experts across IITs. 

The course will be taught and executed by a team of experts across the country including experts from industry, Chaudhary said.
