IIT Jodhpur Collaborates with Swiggy to Develop Facial Recognition Tools; Read Detail Here

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur announced a collaboration with Swiggy's Applied Research team to create a cutting-edge facial recognition system based on artificial intelligence and computer vision.

In order to boost security and compliance on the platform, IIT Jodhpur has partnered with the convenience platform to develop a facial recognition system. This technology will advance the AI potential of the Swiggy platform. The two teams are anticipating that this will make things easier for patrons and restaurant partners.

Swiggy recognised the need for an AI-driven capacity that can automatically detect and extract faces from various sorts of photographs and selfies, which led to the creation of this collaboration with one of the leading IITs in India - IIT Jodhpur.

By comparing the extracted faces to selfies shot using the app, the retrieved faces will be used to verify a person's identity. Additionally, this technique can aid Swiggy in a number of applications such as fraud detection, impersonation, shift attendance, etc.

For more than ten years, the research team at IIT Jodhpur has been focusing on developing reliable face recognition systems for both confined and uncontrolled contexts. This collaboration with Swiggy offers an opportunity to extend research into practical applications of document ID matching with selfies.

In other news, the institute has successfully concluded the IIT Jodhpur eighth convocation ceremony on the campus ground on November 12, 2022. During the event, the institute issued a total of 516 degrees to students. Out of the 521 degrees, 391 were given to men and 125 were given to women.
