As a part of the collaboration, Greenko, India’s leading energy transition and industrial decarbonization solutions company, and IIT Hyderabad signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

According to the statement from the company, the primary aim of the ‘Greenko School of Sustainable Science and Technology’ (GSSST) is to plug the rising research, education, and skill gaps caused by the imperatives of sustainable development.

The new school will be advancing knowledge in the key thrust areas of artificial intelligence and space technology, climate change mitigation, energy transition and industrial transformation, circular and regenerative economy among others.

The GSSST will be the first of its kind initiative in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad (IITH) by Cyient Foundation (the CSR arm of Cyient Ltd.) and Shibodhi Foundation (the family foundation of Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy).

The School will offer a wide range of courses, including Bachelors, Masters, Executive Education, PhD programs, and Certification courses consistent with NEP 2020.

The school envisions offering the best-in-class academic training and creating an enabling ecosystem to nurture economically and socially impactful techno-entrepreneurial ventures.

With its establishment by the end of the year, the GSSST is all set to conduct the admission process to the MTech and Ph.D in sustainable science and technology, followed by BTech courses by June 2023.

The statement revealed that the experience gained at GSSST will be replicated at other IITs, engineering colleges, and later at polytechnics and schools.

In consultation with the Ministry of Education, AICTE, NCERT, and NCVET, Greenko is working to ensure GSSST both conforms to and advances learning in sustainable science and technology.

Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the country cannot just be a consuming nation. Models should be innovated and established to achieve self-sufficiency and improve global welfare.

He said that India will play a leading role in the fourth industrial revolution and a major role will be played by IITH in building the brand India globally and in carving out a better and prosperous future for the country.

He urged the institute to redefine its role to fulfil societal needs and also to provide affordable global solutions.

Speaking on the inaugural occasion, Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder, CEO & MD, Greenko Group, said that the vision and commitment to sustainability and the idea to develop R&D centres of excellence is to help India build requisite technologies and skills that leads to this opportunity.

Further, he added that the key aims of GSSST is to be the knowledge and human resource powerhouse to drive decarbonization and sustainable development and pursue twinning arrangements with globally reputed research and educational institutes.
