Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati will establish a School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In the academic year 2021-22, the first batch of B Tech students will be admitted based on their JEE Advanced scores. In this regard, IIT-Guwahati signed an MoU today with the Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) in the United States.
Prof TG Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, and Rahul Mehta, Chief Executive Officer, Mehta Family Foundation, USA, virtually signed the MoU. “The explosion of data across all fields of knowledge continues unabated,” said Rahul Mehta. Data science and artificial intelligence are expected to change the world in the same way that computer science did. These fields will influence educational and research methods across the entire spectrum of human knowledge. Global interdisciplinary collaborations, such as those envisioned by this new school, will improve our understanding of society and nature. Bringing together global talents like Professor Shankar Subramaniam, Professor Rajesh Gupta (both University of California, San Diego), and Professor Ananth Grama (Purdue University) can help to accelerate growth in these fields.”
