The Director of IIT Delhi, V Ramgopal Rao has informed the IIT Delhi faculty staff and students about the expansion of the campus space of 1.8millon square ft. in 2021. Despite the difficulties faced due to Covid-19, IIT-Delhi shows positivity about improving the infrastructure.
Director Rao confirmed the news about the re-establishment of IIT-Delhi via mail. The new campus includes a new building for the engineering blocks, hostels for boys and girls, sports complex including a research & innovation park. There will be faculty housing, a married students’ hostel, and pre-engineering blocks soon.

Rao said that they encountered many problems during this pandemic. The Institute entered 152 patents and closed 22 technology transfer deals with the industry within the year 2020.
The director said the Institute will also take the finished buildings because the under-construction by May this year. The expanding area will reduce the infrastructural need and increase the institutional activities of 2021
He further added, there will be major online certificate programs from IIT Delhi this year.
The institute has plans for some unique initiatives and multiple new educational programs in 2021.
Ramgopal stated IIT is associated with five major service providers in the educational field for its educational initiative eVidya. The providers are Arrina, Bennett Coleman, Erulearning, Hughes Global, Upgraded.
Rao conveys a positive attitude toward this pandemic situation in the country. He said, whether it is preventing, detecting the COVID, or the treatment that IIT had done; every effort is commendable.
With gratitude, he added, that the campus community and alumni have volunteered for helping to take care of each and everyone dependent on the Institute directly and indirectly. From security staff to dhobis and the mess workers the institute has taken care of everyone.
