Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JK Paper to set up JK Paper Centre of Excellence (CoE).
An Indian pulp and paper manufacturer, JK Paper will collaborate with IIT Delhi to establish ‘JK Paper Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Paper and Packaging’.
According to the IITD statement, the JK Paper Centre of Excellence will bring synergy and coherence in the activities that will be conducted at the IIT Delhi in this domain.
Besides a multitude of sponsored research projects, an executive development programme, training and knowledge transfer, expert lectures, and other projects of mutual interest will be carried out under the CoE umbrella.
The CoE coordinator, Professor Ashwini K Agrawal, said that the JK paper CoE aims to develop new technologies for the paper and packaging industry across the country.
Furthermore, the collaboration of IIT Delhi and JK Paper will bring together the knowledge in evolving areas of sciences and engineering and expertise of the manufacturing industry to create new knowledge, novel products and groom the much-needed research manpower in this sector, he said.
Speaking about the collaboration, AS Mehta, the President and Director, JK Paper, said that it is a privilege to embark on a collaborative journey with IIT Delhi. With the increasing requirement for sustainable and functional products thereby driving innovations, the paper and packaging industry is witnessing a huge transformation.
He said that the center of excellence (CoE) will combine the cutting-edge research at IIT Delhi with application know-how of JK Paper to accelerate the paper and packaging innovations and propose solutions for a variety of end-use applications of the customers.
IITD Director V Ramgopal Rao welcomed the JK Paper CoE collaboration, saying that the institute is extremely honored to partner with JK Papers. Further, the institute is looking forward to the immense research and development opportunities that CoE and IIT Delhi will bring together on futuristic technologies of mutual interest, he said.
