IIT Bombay Kick Starts Placement Drive with 250 Job Offers on Day 1; Read Details Here

New Delhi: On the very first day of IIT Bombay Placement 2022 drive, the students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay received 250 placement offers from 46 recruiters on the campus ground. Out of the total offers made, students have already accepted 175 job offers.

As per IIT Bombay, the institute is expecting to see the participation of over 300 recruiters on the campus in phase 1 of placement session 2022-23. The placements started on December 01, 2022, and will continue till December 15, 2022 in hybrid mode for all participating students.

Following the IIT Bombay Placements 2022 data, the campus drive has started on a positive note as students have already received around 300 pre-placement offers and 250 job offers on the first day. 194 have accepted the PPOs while others are waiting for better opportunities.

The job offers were made to students by some of the top recruiters of the institute such as Accenture Solutions, Airbus India, Microsoft India, Morgan Stanley, McKinsey, Procter & Gamble, Qualcomm, Shell India, Texas Instruments and Tata Steel.

“While salary packages have remained largely unchanged, tech giants have either been very selective or have not visited the campus this year,” read the official statement from IIT Bombay. Companies shortlisted candidates through their interview process, which even lasted till 2 am.

About the placement, an IIT Bombay official said, “Last year, the economy was restarting after the COVID-19 pandemic, and companies were operating online. Recruiters anticipated that they would need more manpower than they actually did. This year they simply don’t. It’s like a sine wave pattern".

This year, there was no decline in offers made for the role of IT, Software, FMCG, and Management streams, however, the drop has been recorded in research and development roles on the first day. The placement data is yet to be released by the institute as the session is still ongoing.

In addition to IIT Bombay, IIT has started the placement drive at IIT Delhi, Madras, Kanpur and other campuses for students. The highest package offered to students so far has been recorded at INR 4 crore per annum so far.
