Final year students of IIT Bhubaneswar are awaiting the forthcoming placement season starting October 31, 2020. Abiding by all COVID-19 instructions, interviews will be conducted in online mode.
Official sources of IIT Bhubaneswar claimed, “Amid doubts expressed all around about the fate of placements for engineering students during 2020‐21, the IIT Bhubaneswar students have started getting pre‐placement offers (PPOs) which shows an encouraging placement season ahead this year.”
As per RV Rajakumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, this year candidates have been flooded with PPOs. The highest offer reached 43 LPA. Along with this, the number of PPOs received by students has already surpassed last year’s total number of offers.

PPOs add to the benefit of being recognised by companies during placement drive. Even when the economy is dipping and global business is at stake, these figures are quite promising. Students who receive PPOs share an upper hand as organisations prefer to hire such candidates who interned with them earlier.
Several multinationals with the likes of Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, GEP Solutions, DeShaw prefer to select students who had interned with them. This helps to evaluate candidates more effectively over a period of time and in a workspace in realtime.
Earlier, several doubts were clouding while placement drive for engineering students of 2020-21, drew nearer. However, with the online mode of placements, it is expected to create new trends and patterns in hiring processes.
