IIT Bhubaneswar Cutoff to Rise in GATE for MTech Admissions 2020

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar has released the first-round list of MTech Admissions 2020.

IIT Bhubaneswar now offers MTech admissions in 14 specialisations in 5 of its schools. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, candidates have been shortlisted based on their GATE score with weightage to 12th exam and BTech performance.

The institute reportedly informed of increasing average GATE scores with 8.6% in opening rank and 12.17% in closing rank.

According to Dr P R Sahu, Dean Academic Affairs, IIT Bhubaneswar, since last year, admissions have been taking place through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). The first of the 10 rounds of offers was released last week.

This year for General category, opening and closing GATE scores in Computer Science and Engineering were 888 and 779 whereas, for SC category, ranks were 737 and 616 respectively.

Prof R V Raja Kumar, Director said, “Obviously a student would like to choose the best possible institute for his or her own education.

As you know the closing and the opening scores of the selected list of candidates is an acid test of how an Institution is functioning since it directly reflects the confidence level of the stakeholders.

We have been observing this rising trend for the last three years in all the programmes including BTech, MTech and MSc at IIT Bhubaneswar, despite that the seats in the IIT System are significantly increasing over time.

A rise of 12.17% is very significant, it is very satisfying to all of us at IIT Bhubaneswar, it would encourage us to work harder and I am confident that the institute will continue this rising trend in the coming years”

Last round of offers will be held between August 7- August 9, 2020. However, IIT Bhubaneswar UG Admissions 2020 might be delayed due to pandemic situation.
