IIM Shillong: Signed MoU with DICCI For NE Youth Development; Check Details Here


Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM-S) and the Dalit Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for youth development in the North-Eastern region. An official stated that the collaboration of IIM Shillong and DICCI is expected to enhance entrepreneurial and employability capabilities of the youth in the North-East Region.

Sanjeeb Kakoty, chairman of Incubation and Enterprise Support Center (IESC) at IIM-S said that the MoU is aimed at enhancing further research, Medium and Small Enterprises (MSME) and overall entrepreneurship development through various short-terms programs which will take place along with infrastructure sharing and faculty exchange.

The chairman of IIM-S SK Bajoria added his comments on the development said that to achieve the goal of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” or Self-reliant India, we, as a nation, must have “Atma Nirbhar North East”, which is free from all discriminations of caste, creed, and colour. Enhancing the entrepreneurial and employability capabilities of the North East youth is one of the main objectives of IIM-S and with close monitoring along with DICCI, the institute will be able to transform novel ideas and energy into various successful businesses, said IIM-S Director, DP Goyal.

The primary aim of the collaboration is to encourage entrepreneurial and employability capabilities among the youth of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), said Ravi Kumar Narra, the national president of DICCI. Kumar further added that the people of the community are into the reputed fields like aerospace, information technology, and science among others. Over the last 15 years, DICCI, as an organization, could connect with over a lakh ST/SC entrepreneurs and they are hoping to take this forward in the future, said Kumar.
