Indian Institute of Management, (IIM) Nagpur has decided to launch its first-ever satellite campus in Pune, in partnership with the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT). The establishment is likely to be concluded by the end of the year 2021.
As IIM Nagpur launches its satellite campus, it will be the first IIM to be founded in CIRT, Pune. The institute will offer Short, Long and Certificate Courses in Transport Management among others. Reports claim, CIRT and IIM Nagpur have jointly signed an agreement to offer competency- building programmes for all stakeholders from road transport and industry in June.
During the formal launch of the campus in the city, Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur said that the management institute has also planned to introduce its first Executive MBA Programme by December this year, for the Pune campus.
IIM Nagpur’s Satellite Campus in Pune to Offer Executive MBA from December 2021
The institute already offers PGPM, PhD, and eMBA courses. However, this two-year Executive MBA Programme will be exclusively for working professionals from various fields. The eligibility criteria for the eMBA programme include working experience of minimum three years along with, above 50% marks in graduation.
Furthermore, IIM Nagpur authorities have decided to conduct in-person classes for working professionals of Pune during weekends. The main aim is to provide continuous learning and upskilling opportunities to working professionals, she added.
During the survey on the courses that were to be offered at the management institute, It was noted that in addition to leadership qualities, companies need a more talented and skilled workforce.
Early on September 7, 2021, IIM Nagpur leadership CP Gurnani (MD & CEO – Tech Mahindra and Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Nagpur) and Dr. Bhimaraya Metri (Director, IIM Nagpur) interacted with different stakeholders from industry and media at Pune to exchange ideas and plans for IIM Nagpur.
As per the sources, C P Gurnani, the Chairman of IIM-Nagpur and MD and CEO of Tech Mahindra, said, as Pune is among the top five IT hubs of India and is an emerging automobile hub as well, IIM-Nagpur will get very good industry partnership from the city’s companies and industries.
He added that the idea is to link transport management with the supply chain using tools like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and other latest technologies. At present, the institute authorities, industry experts and CIRT are working together to design the curriculum, and the course is likely to be launched soon from the Pune campus.
Earlier, this month, IIM Nagpur launched a Senior Management Program for the Senior-level Management Executives for the academic year 2021-22. The program is specially designed for management executives who wish to contribute to their organization’s growth with the help of designing strategies, cross-functional integration, execution, and change management.
