IIM Jammu Conducted International Conference on Circular Economy: Read Details Here


Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu organized the online International Conference on Circular Economy for which the theme was Responsible Management for Circularity and Sustainability.

Prof Jabir Ali, IIM Jammu, Prof Uthayasankar Sivarajah and Prof Vishanth Weerakoddy of School of Management, University of Bradford, UK, giving an overview of the conference to the guests and Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu attended the session.

Prof Amir Sharif, School of Management, University of Bradford (UK) discussed the Circular Economy and how it will help sustain growth and development.

The first plenary session was on the matter – “Circular economy and competitive advantage: A win-win for all the stakeholders” which was honoured by Navneet Chadha, Regional Head, Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy, IFC – International Finance Corporation, MD International Council for Circular Economy, Bangkok and Shalini Goyal Bhalla.

Prof Amir Sharif began the session by talking on the topic – “Circular economy for sustainable development”, followed by Navneet Chadha who informed the topic, “Circular Economy Solutions to Address Marine Plastic Pollution in Asia”.

Later, the session was further taken by Shalini Goyal Bhalla, who explained the topic – “Circular economy and competitive advantage: A win-win for all the stakeholders”.

Additionally, it was followed by the first technical session that highlighted the topic “Responsible business practices for a circular economy”. This session was talked by Harbinder Singh, Chairman, Yes Full Circle Solutions who spoke on the topic ‘Disruptive innovation and the circular economy’.

Moreover, Arvind Bodhankar Joint President, Sustainability, Health and Environment Aditya Birla Group, talked on the topic “Circular economy through cement industry perspective” while Paul Davidson expressed his views on the topic “If You Want to Get There Then I Wouldn’t Start from Here”.

The technical session two based on the features “The emergence of circular business models: A road map for sustainable future”, was started by Amit Saha Founder & CEO Pro India Solutions. 

The session was further continued by Ronak Veyas, Project Coordinator, NEPRA Resource Management Private Limited who talked on “Closing the Waste Material Loop”.

At the end of the session, Hemant Chaudhry, Founder and Executive Director of Circular Economy Alliance Australia (CEAA) revealed his views on the working of Circular Economy.
