IIM Calcutta to Launch Online Courses in Management Science and Supply Chain Analytics

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) intends to launch two online certificate programmes in "Management Sciences" and "Supply Chain Analytics" in an effort to use technology into the delivery of education. The Business School has partnered with Coursera, a global online learning platform, to enable the institution to provide the course online on a global scale.

The relationship would enable IIM Calcutta to achieve its goal of employing technology to provide management education as well as improve their reputation among aspirants globally, according to Anju Set, the director of the institution.

In order to provide students online credential programmes, Coursera has partnered with 170 institutions and universities, including the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Yale, Imperial College of London, University of Michigan, Stanford, and many other elite universities are among those on the list.

According to IIM authorities, the goal of the certificate programmes is to help candidates understand the critical abilities required for a firm to run successfully. The course will give the students the chance to participate in several industrial case studies that will aid in their understanding of the value of data-driven decision-making processes. The course will also teach the aspirants how to create computational and mathematical models, analyse data to find solutions for real-world problems, and inform actions.

Through many hands-on practicals and projects, students who choose to follow the degree will be able to learn about the various programming paradigms. They want to make it easier for the students to see how applications are used in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, transportation, agriculture, finance, and health.

According to Jeff Maggioncalda, the CEO of Corsera, there are numerous institutes in India that offer top-tier education on a global scale. However, the number of applicants who can pursue the degree of their choice is limited as a result of the shortage of places in the on-campus programmes, he added. He added that enabling candidates from India and beyond to enrol in IIM Calcutta's programmes is one of the partnership's main goals.
