IIM Calcutta Records 100 per cent Summer Internship Placements Amid Pandemic, Check Details Here


Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has completed the summer internship placements 2020 and recorded 100 per cent placement.

IIM Calcutta officially declared on November 30, 2020, that it has successfully maintained that legacy of 100 per cent internship placement.

The IIM Calcutta took pride in providing 100 per cent summer internship placement for the class of 2022 in spite of the economic crisis faced by India because of the COVID 19 global pandemic.

The whole process of summer internship placement was conducted virtually by the IIM Calcutta because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation. The students and corporates were participating in their home locations.

The IIM Calcutta released an official notice which stated that a total of 139 companies participated in the placement process.

Out of the 139 participating companies, 43 were the first-time recruiters to IIM Calcutta. A total of 473 students participated in the summer internship placement process 2020.

The official notice also stated that students were hired across various sectors and the hiring trend is distributed this year.

40 per cent of the offers were provided in Consulting, Finance, and BFSI and 32 per cent of students chose their internships in general management, and sales, and marketing roles. 

The remaining 28 per cent of the students opted for operations, product management, e-commerce, and start-ups.

Professor Abhishek Goel, the chairperson of the Career Development and Placement Office, talked about the overwhelming response they received from the companies.

"It is heartening to see our students and the placement team rising to the occasion to change the systems, enabling all stakeholders to participate virtually, creating multi-layered coordination and communication channels, and maintaining positivity throughout the process," Goel stated.

According to the reports, Accenture and Microsoft were among the top recruiters.
