IIM Calcutta Hosts Lecture Series on India's G20 Role

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta has recently organised a series of lectures on India's G20 Presidency on January 30, 2023. The event was held with the aim to increase students' awareness of India's role as a voice for the Global South.

As per IIM Calcutta, the series included lectures by Harsh Vardhan Shringhla, Chief Coordinator of G20, International Politics Professor Varun Sahni of JNU and International Relations Professor Sanjay Chaturvedi from South Asian University, among others.

Referring to the event, IIM Calcutta Dean, Manish Thakur said, “The students should be aware and active in observing India leverage its role to push for concerns of the Global South. In this context, we talked about diverse topics, including women empowerment and climate change".

In his statement, he added that this initiative is taken so that the youth of India will become more aware of the importance of global events such as G20. These key events keep students involved in contextualizing the world.

In addition to this, IIM Calcutta has organised the 11th India Finance Conference from December 19 to December 21, 2022 on its campus ground. The event was held under a joint venture with two other top management schools in India, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore.

The event included discussions on topics of banking and financial industries such as financial inclusion. The participants shared their ideas on the difficulties facing the banking industry after scholars from the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia presented their papers.
