Students from IIM Ahmedabad emerged as the joint winners of an international case competition. The competition was organized by the Calgary Economic Development in Alberta, Canada and the MBA society of Haskayne School of Business (University of Calgary).
The team of five consisted of 2nd year MBA students from IIM Ahmedabad’s PG programme. The team included Kartik Mittal, Raghav Gupta Siddharth Modi, Aayush Gupta and Dr Dhairya Shrivastava who were all from diverse backgrounds like medicine and commerce.

The case competition was based on creating a strategy for the short and long-term economic recovery of Calgary, Canada by means of SMSEs in the post-Covid world. 7 hours were given to the teams to create a strategy. The team from IIM Ahmedabad tied for the top spot with Haskayne School of Business.
The judges included faculty from the Haskayne School of Business and personnel from Calgary Economic Development who appraised the teams, “Their presentation was organized well, and recommendations were backed by solid analysis. The overarching solution of ‘Catapult, Calgary!’ covers solutions not only to tide the current crisis but also provides a path to continue the momentum, post-Covid.”
A member of the team Dhairya Shrivastava said that the judges appreciated their strategy of adopting global perspective and macro-management into local business.
He further said that the team was thrilled to be a part of such a competition where they got to work on a real-world situation and make an impact in the growth direction of the city.
