IIM Ahmedabad Placement 2021: Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has concluded the placement session for its final batch of full-time Postgraduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX) 2021.
IIM Ahmedabad Placement 2021: Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has concluded the placement session for its final batch of full-time Postgraduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX) 2021, recording the most overwhelming performance in 15 years since the inception of the course.
Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad recorded the highest package as INR 82 LPA. The session was conducted through online mode due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The institute witnessed participation from 120 companies from around the globe.
At the IIM Ahmedabad Placement 2021 of the institute’s one-year duration PGPX 2021 program, 119 students have received placement opportunities in top companies.
Out of a total strength of 137 students in the IIM-A PGPX 2021 batch,17 students have received off-campus offers, while one student took up entrepreneurship. The remaining 119 students received placement opportunities from various firms during the placement process.
Talking about the overwhelming placement record, Professor Ankur Sinha, Chairperson, Placement Committee said, “We had record placements for our PGPX Batch of 2021 in the history of 15 years of the program”.
“The outcome of the placement process clearly demonstrates the strength of the program and the value that recruiters see in hiring our students for their talent needs at mid to senior-level positions" he further added.
IIM-A's 2021 PGPX placements attracts highest package of INR 82 LPA
This year, the PGPX placements at IIM Ahmedabad has attracted the highest package of INR 82 Lakh per annum, which is completely higher than last year's figure.
The fifteenth batch of PGPX at IIMA witnessed the highest domestic Maximum Earning Potential offered at INR 82 lakhs.
Maximum Earning Potential (MEP) is the sum of total guaranteed cash component, maximum possible-linked variable pay and all other components of salary that are a part of the offer which can include long-term compensation such as PF, gratuity and other perks as well.
Considering the highest domestic MEP of Rs 81 lakh, the average domestic MEP for IIM-A's PGPX placements was positioned at Rs 30 LPA, which is down from Rs 33.3 LPA last year.
However, there's no international offers made in 2020 or 2021, unlike in 2019, when the programme enticed the highest international MEP of USD 109,666.
This year, the Information Technology (IT) firm has emerged as the top recruiter, which hired as much as 37% of the students. The IT sector was followed by healthcare, BFSI, and consulting at 13%, 12%, and 10% of the total students respectively.

As per the data received by the institute, PGPX students of IIM-A received most placement opportunities from Information Technology (IT) companies in the 2021 placement session.
Top recruiters of IIM Ahmedabad Placement 2021 session for PGPX students include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, MIT Group, Indigene, OneFitPlus, Mastercard, SAP India, and L&T Infotech. Other recruiters include FinIQ, RMSI, Avataar.me, KEC International, Genpact among others.

Referring to the IIM-A Placement 2021, the Chairperson, Placement Committee stated that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute received a large number of recruiters during the placement drive. The placement was transitioned smoothly into virtual mode.
Adding to the statement, Saurabh Agrawal, PGPX Recruitment Secretary, said, “The 15th batch of PGPX started amidst the strict Covid lockdowns and despite uncertainty looming large over the market demand for hiring senior professionals, have surpassed in many parameters of the past years”.
“We have seen an increased interest from some of the well-established start-ups hiring from this program for the senior management roles and it was well complemented by the traditional recruiters from IT, Consulting, Pharma and Conglomerates, etc”, he added.
