IIM Ahmedabad Collaborates with Saint Gobain India for Creating Biodiversity Habitat at Campus


New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saint Gobain India to conduct a study for creating biodiversity habitats on the institute's campus ground.

As per IIM Ahmedabad, to facilitate this collaboration with Saint-Gobain India, IIMA Endowment Fund (IIMAEF) has provided donations to IIMA. With this initiative, the institute aims to develop and upgrade the overall ecological biodiversity of the campus. 

This partnership with Saint Global India will support the assessment study for specifying the comprehensive strategic design which will improve the ecological biodiversity at IIMA. It will also enhance the density of bird biodiversity and the green environment on the campus. 

In his speech, P Padmakumar, Executive Director, Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd, said, “Saint-Gobain has always been ahead of its times in terms of environmental protection by establishing Urban Forest in large manufacturing entities”.

“Saint-Gobain has entered an MOU with IIMA for designing and detailing the biodiversity habitat at the campus. We hope this will go a long way in meeting the proposed outcomes of the study while achieving our purpose of ‘Making the world a better home’, he added. 

This collaborative study will improve the density of bird biodiversity with the help of indigenous species, reinforcement of indigenous floral structure, enhancement of water retention capacity through passive measures, increase soil permeability and improvement in air quality.

Informing about the MoU, the officials stated that this agreement with Saint-Gobain India is a step towards strengthening the industry-academia collaboration for a better future for the environment. It will also analyze the existing biodiversity clusters present at IIMA Campus.
