IGNOU: Maximum Duration of Completing Academic Programmes Reduced; Check Details Here


Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi changes the maximum duration of completing the Post Graduate programme and reduces it by one year. 

Initially, the maximum duration of passing the Post Graduate course was five years, which is now reduced to four years.

IGNOU has also set limits on the maximum duration for completing the Diploma, PG Diploma, and Certificate courses. 

The maximum duration to achieve the Diploma and PG Diploma degree is confined to a period of three years. 

The candidates enrolled in a Certificate Course have to achieve the degree within a maximum period of two years.

On July 20, 2020, the 74th Academic Council Meeting was held in which there was a discussion on this matter. These regulations will not be applied to the old students of IGNOU. 

No change has been made in the limit of the maximum period of finishing the undergraduate programmes. 

The minimum duration to finish the UG programme is three years, whereas the maximum time limit provided is of six years.

The varsity of IGNOU has decided to withdraw the readmission scheme and therefore there is no clause of readmission for any candidate whose course is completing within June TEE 2021.

The university offers 226 academic programmes comprising courses at diploma, certificate, and degree levels.
