Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has announced an Opt-Out option for students appearing in the ICSI CS December exam. Candidates who will be unable to appear for the CS exams scheduled for December can choose to opt-out of the exam.
This decision was taken by the ICSI in view of the situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Candidates who opt-out will be allowed to carry forward their candidature for the December exam to 2021. The ICSI CS exam for the next year is supposed to commence on June 1, 2021.

This facility is made available only for those students who have been directly affected by the pandemic. Students whose family or immediate relatives have been infected between November 20 and December 30, will be allowed to opt-out.
To make use of this option, the students will be required to submit a Covid-19 positive report as proof. Applicants will need to submit this report while filling the online opt-out form, which will be made available on the official ICSI website.
Candidates wishing to opt-out of the exam are required to submit the form as a formal request. The last date for online opt-out form submission is January 15, 2021.

On submission of a successful application, the candidature for the ICSI CS December exam will be canceled and carried forward to the next exam session. Students who opt-out of the exam will not be required to submit another form for the June, 2021 examination.
They will also not be required to submit the exam fee again. The examination fee credit for the December exam will be carried forward to the next exam.
Applicants who submit the online opt-out form without a valid Covid-19 positive report will find their application rejected immediately. No notice will be given to candidates whose form gets rejected.
Once the candidates have used the opt-out facility, no changes will be entertained by the administration. This is a 1-time facility that was introduced keeping the impact of the pandemic in mind.
