December 19, 2020 marks the date for taking the first step towards Solar Power and Electricity in India and France together. Gurugram builds a Center of Excellence for training future generation electrical engineers.
The first Centre of Excellence in the Power sector is introduced today which will prioritize in sharpening the skills of candidates and increase the employment opportunities in the field of Electricity, Automation and Solar Energy Sectors.
The centre was inaugurated in Gurugram in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, along with the Ministry of National Education and Youth, Government of France and Schneider Electric.

The CoE is built to fulfill the dream of creating Trainers, Instructors with high-end programs in the power and solar sector. With the help of advanced labs and future technology the CoE will boost the relationship between India and France in the energy sector.
Union Minister for Power and Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Raj Kumar Singh were also present at the inauguration of the Centre of Excellence virtually with Daniel Maitre, Minister-Counsellor for Economic and Financial Affairs, Head of the Regional Economic Department for India and South Asia.
The MoU was signed earlier between MSDE, Ministry of Education-France and Schneider Electric and the operational MoU has been signed between National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEIF), Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) and National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) to enhance the training and skill development in the field of power and solar.

Raj Kumar Singh at the occasion said that, India is taking initiative to improve its economic development by generating the workforce in the energy sector to fulfil the vision of PM Modi’s AtmaNirbhar Bharat. The collaboration with the Government of France is an example of cooperation between the countries to achieve their long-term energy goals.
There will be two labs set for the CoE as per the CSR initiative by Schneider Electric. Both the labs will be equipped with specially designed instruments for training in home and building, and industry installation and automation.
The Centre has invited all the interested candidates to join the practical training online with trainers from all over the country. Power Sector Skill Council will be responsible for managing the operations of the centre, and has also developed necessary learning contents for various job roles in generation, transmission, distribution and downstream sub sectors to facilitate learning. Moreover, the France Department of Education has sent an expert to India for 3 years to conceptualise, design and head the proposed CoE.
