Moreover, the state government has also directed the schools to admit children in the pre-nursery classes in a way that when they complete their pre-primary education, they can apply for class 1 admissions after 6 years of age.
The state government explaining the decision to change the age limit for admissions to class one said that the motive behind this move was to bring uniformity in the process of Nursery admissions as compared to the other boards.
The state government in 2012, under the Right to Education Act, had allowed admissions to class 1 from the age of 5 years.
However, CBSE and other boards had set the age limit to 6 years and this was causing inconvenience to the parents who were planning to switch between boards. In order to resolve this challenge, the age limit for class 1 admissions has been changed to 6 years.
