Gujarat Govt. Allows Class 10 Students with Grace Marks to Seek Admission for Polytechnic Diploma Courses; Details Here

The Gujarat government has decided to allow Class 10 students who have passed with grace marks to seek admission into diploma courses at polytechnic institutes across the state.

Notably, a rule framed by the state Education Department in 2016 had barred students passed with grace marks from seeking admission to polytechnic diploma courses in the state.

The state education minister, Jitubhai Vaghani said that the Gujarat government has planned to terminate the rule from this year to assist students passing with grace marks to pursue diploma courses in the polytechnic colleges.

Vaghani said that nearly 30,000 seats in different polytechnic colleges are vacant and an equal number of SSC students have passed with grace marks. In order to ensure that these students will now get the opportunity of building their careers, the government authorities have planned to permit them to seek admission to diploma courses.

This year, the class 10 board exams in Gujarat were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation across the state. The minister said that the authorities have extended the deadline to accept the admission forms.

Following this, students passing with grace marks who were considered ineligible will now be eligible to apply for admissions to the diploma courses.

The minister urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity and submit the admission application form at the earliest.

When asked about the reopening of primary schools for students from Classes 1 to 5, Vaghani concluded saying that the final decision in this regard will be taken "very soon" after consulting experts.
